2009 Bachelor of Arts at UNCW in Elementary Education k-6th, Magnum Cum Laude

I started my first interest in elementary schools while attending the University of Akron in Ohio. Because of my active lifestyle and love of sports I was enrolled as a double major in P.E. and Health K-12. I attended college in Ohio for 2 and half years. During that time I also was volunteering with the local YMCA, to organize after school activities for an inner-city school. Daily, I would tutor students and coordinate games and activities. This experience helped to broaden my perspective and interests into elementary education. One of the most unique experiences during my time at UA was taking advantage of the opportunity to study at the University of Physical Education in Beijing, China. During my 3rd year of college my mother was terminally ill. When I was able to return to college I attended UNCW and graduated with a degree in elementary education. Before joining the Swansboro school family in 2010 I was observing, tutoring, and substitute teaching in Onslow County.

I grew up in North East Ohio, going to Cleveland Indian games and exploring the Cuyahoga Valley, running, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and snow boarding. Our high school had the best fastpitch softball team in the state. We won the state championship my junior and senior year. I also played for state winning ASA softball teams, we qualified to compete at the Nationals which was a gateway ticket to summer camps where Olympic players trained and coached us. After high school I joined the U.S. Army Reserves and served 8 years. My husband and I have three children together. Our eldest is now a freshman at Swansboro High School.  We have a daughter in 7th grade at New Bridge Middle School. In the fall of 2015 we welcomed our 3rd child a precious little girl. As a family we are always busy with something: running, swim team, volleyball and when we're not doing those things we love to visit the local aquariums, beaches, and downtown Swansboro!!!  We've fallen in love with the East Coast and are here to stay!
